Guro Daniel Lonero & Simo Marie Sia are students of, and instructors under Guro Dan Inosanto at his world renown Academy in Los Angeles. They travel around the world sharing the martial arts they have learned, and pay tribute to their teachers and legacy through XTMA, Cross Training Martial Arts. They are tremendous reflections of Guro Inosanto, and I have often said that Guro Daniel is one of the best examples of the Academy material and curriculum of this time. His instruction, presentation and expression of these martial arts make him an amazing representative of our teacher, his Academy and our lineage.
As a couple they are wonderful examples of love and life, of balance and presence, of honest and genuine expression. It was a pleasure to interview them, and an honor to have them on the podcast. What I thought would be two separate segments of conversation, in very fitting reflection, merged into one.
Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.
– Kahlil Gibran, “The Prophet”
