This is a demonstration and lecture that Guro Dan gave for the Smithsonian Institution in 2010. One of the things that I absolutely loved and truly miss about training with Guro on a weekly basis is hearing his thoughts, memories and historical information about the Philippines and Filipino Americans in California. Much of this history is oral tradition, and only a few select people such as Guro have been able to pass along the information through the years.
His classes were very similar to this presentation actually, wherein he both teaches, demonstrates and lectures on history (often with those same notebooks of pictures). One of the most poignant parts of this video however, is when he is asked about his Sifu Bruce Lee during the Question & Answer session at the end.
