Lakas Filipino Martial Arts welcomes back family, friends and students and challenges all those out there to join us in growing as individuals and strengthening our tribe. We are mothers and fathers, artists and professionals, healers and warriors who have taken the step in protecting ourselves and our loved ones through the ancient and modern methods of the Filipino Martial Arts.
Just as our connection to the past anchors and propels our direction to the future, your evolution would not be complete without connecting to the instructors and larger organizations that Lakas Filipino Martial Arts derives it’s material from. All credit and sacrifice is owed to Pamana Tuhon Sayoc, the Atienza brothers and Guro Dan Inosanto. As such, all are encouraged to become members of:

Membership includes access to curriculum material to support your learning in class, online forums that link schools and groups around the country and across the world, and access to the world’s most elite instructors and Master instructors. Membership is required for all current and prospective students in Lakas Filipino Martial Arts.
The Lakas Filipino Martial Arts tribe is a Sayoc Kali and Atienza Kali training group, and Guro Joe Marana is a certified instructor under Pamana Tuhon Sayoc, Tuhon Carl Atienza and a direct student of Guro Dan Inosanto. He also holds a Black Belt under Grandmaster Cacoy Canete of Cacoy Doce Pares. Lakas Filipino Martial Arts does not however exist in isolation. Guro Joe is an active student and instructor under Guro Bob Shin at Maharlika Martial Arts in Columbia, MD as well as under Master Carlos Patalinghug, Jr. at Kick Connection, Inc. in Pasadena, MD. All students and readers of this site and associated social networking platforms @LakasFMA, lakasfma and lakasfma are encouraged to support these school as well as any other Filipino Martial Arts instructors and groups you can find.
